Dear Dad,

There are no words that can show my appreciation for all the sacrifices that you and mom have made to give me, and the rest of your family, all that we could ever want. It's impossible to express how truly proud I am to call you dad. In my heart, and all that I will ever do, you will be a part. I'm sorry that I didn't say it often enough while you were around; but, thank you and I love you more than anything in the world. Thank you for making me who I am, for letting me be what I want to be, and to allow me to follow my dreams. I miss you SO much! I will always love you Dad!

How sad we were to hear of Al Chin's sudden death. Al was such a wonderful, loving and kind person. We have many fond memories of dinners at Chung's in China Town and Waterford. We never laughed so hard as the nignt he brought out the "special fortune cookies"! Lancy, we wish you a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chin family.

May our Heart and Prayers be with you during this time. Our family has wonderful memories of spending many of mealtimes with Al at Chungs. Both Joshua and Scott were newborn babies when Al would carry them as if they were his own boys, as our family enjoyed dinner time. A wonderful Man, Husband, Father and Friend. We will miss him.

With our Love,

I am so sorry to hear of Al's passing at such a young age. Al and I played tennis at Palmer Park many an evening after I left work. We played under the night lights, and always had a great time. We went to the Totem Pole after and loaded up on the "Pocahontas" sandwich with fries and coca-cola.
Though I haven't seen him in years, he would never have been forgotten. We were, and always would be, "buds".

My wife and I are frequent visitors at the restaurant on M59. We are very sorry to hear the tragic news. Mr Chin was a very kind man. We had many conversations with him while visiting the restaurant. During our last visit he shared pictures of a recent marriage of one of his children. He spoke very proudly of his life, children and wife. We will miss seeing him.

Dear Craig and all of the Chin Family,

There are no words that we could say to you right now to heal your broken hearts or take away your grief. Just know how very much we care and are so saddened by this tragic news. Craig, you know how your father always treated us every other Saturday night. He took special care of us, sometimes bringing something extra from the kitchen for us to try. We were just ordinary customers but Al always made us feel like royalty.
We had many interesting and delightful conversations about the old neighborhood at Cass and Temple, since I lived there too, we had many things in common to talk about.
Your father was so proud of you Craig, and your artwork. He was proud of all of his children and spoke of them often and their accomplishments. It will never be the same at Chungs without your father there. We will truly, truly miss him.
We lift your mother up in prayer for recovery as we lift all of you up for Gods healing touch.
Our hearts, our sympathy and our prayers are with you.

All of our Love,

Sandy and Ian Joyce

The Meachum family has known Al for over 15 years since going to Chung's on Cass. During that time we have become like brothers, and were looking forward to hanging out in Vegas with Al and Nancy in Dec. We have fond memories to cling to..including Al babysitting some grandchildren while we enjoyed our dinner...Al inviting me to lunch in the Eastern Market...just sitting and talking as we did only 2 weeks ago when we came for dinner...exchanging info on our kids' ventures...and Al teaching me the meaning of (ABC). He was a great man, and my family feels honored and blessed to have travelled part of our journey through life with him. He will be missed, and we wish Nancy a speedy recovery. To all of the kids: you certainly had a great dad, and you were not alone when you shed tears for your dad at the memorial service. Happy trails to all of you.

Dear Chin Family,
Our deepest sympathy goes out to your family at this time. This is truly a tragedy. Your father was a dear friend, a kind, generous and extremely thoughtful human being. He always went the extra distance to make us feel very comfortable at the restaurant over the twelve years we have known your family. We will miss him visiting our store as he did on a weekly basis. It just will not be the same. We wish Lancy a quick recovery as she remains in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help your family in this time of crisis.

Dear Chin Family,
We were so very saddened to hear of this terrible accident. It is rare to be greeted in a restaurant in such a personal way as your parent's greeted customers.
Their warmth and friendliness was so much appreciated and we will miss Mr. Chin and his lovely smile.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you all, but especially with your mother as she recovers.

With sincerity and sympathy,

Dear Chinn Children, We are saddened and shocked by your fathers tragic death. We pray that your mother will have a full and speedy recovery. We often ate at Chungs and your father, no matter how busy always chatted a length with us. Just recently he shared of his son's experiences working in China and getting his MBA, also that his daughter will be teaching in New York. He was so proud of all of you, take comfort in his love for all of you. Please accept our deepest sympathies, your father will be greatly missed by the community. We hope to hear very soon of your mother's recovery. Be strong. Donna & Burt Hurshe
