JOSEPHINE CARATELLI ~~ AGE 109!!!

Mrs. Caratelli, age 109, died on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Cherrywood Nursing and Living Center, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. She was born Josephine Cerci on December 18, 1900 in Rome, Italy, to Antonio and Clarice (Latini) Cerci. She moved to the United States when she was 19 years old. She had been a resident of Warren, Michigan for 47 years, and was a former resident of Detroit and Highland Park.

Occupation: Mrs. Caratelli was employed with Chrysler Corp. during WW II, working assembly, and she was a cook (traditional Italian food) at the John R Gardens for 8 years.

She was the BEST traditional Italian cook period….. made everything from scratch.

She had been a member of the Roman Society, and the Adolorata Society.

Mrs. Caratelli will be remembered by her family and friends as a woman only concerned with her children. She had traditional, old fashioned values, and only wanted her children to respect others and themselves.

Visitation: Thursday, February 4, 2010, from 2-8 PM at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, MI 48084 (between Maple and Big Beaver Roads, with an evening Scripture Service at 6:30 PM

Funeral Mass: Friday, February 5, 2010 - 10:30 AM at St. Sylvester Church, 11200 Twelve Mile Road, Warren, Michigan, with Reverend Gary Schulte officiating. Visitation at church begins Friday at 10 AM

Inurnment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery, in Detroit, Michigan
