Mrs. Rallis, age 73, died on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at her residence in Washington Township, Michigan. She was born Freida Mae Phillips on August 20, 1935, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to George and Thespina (nee: Christopolis) Phillips.

Education: Mrs. Rallis graduated from Northern Illinois University with degrees in teaching elementary school and child physiology careers.

Occupation: She taught in elementary school for 15 years, was a children's book consultant for 5 years, and worked in developing computer programs for educational purposes for 4 years.

Mrs. Rallis supported Greek Orthodox Church education and many charitable organizations, while having a lifelong desire to help young people through her profession as an elementary school teacher. Freida received the Delta Kappa Beta International Honorary Society's Woman of the Year Award in 1980 for new kinds of educational computer programs, presented in Zurich, Switzerland.

In addition to her achievements in education and active involvement in Church, she also enjoyed many activities and sports such as tennis, golf, water and snow skiing, sailing, was a member of a hot air ballooning organization, and playing classical piano music. However, most important to Freida was her family.

Mrs. Rallis was soft spoken and kind - she was always concerned with the needs of children in teaching, in counseling children, in home-teaching those who were ill, as religious director for her church, as a Red Cross leader to help children in need, and as a district officer in the Greek Orthodox Youth Organization.

Deceased Husband of 41 years: Socrates, deceased June 2, 2007. She married Professor Socrates Rallis in 1966.

Grandchildren: Isabella, Sophia, and Maxwell

Visitation: Thursday, January 15, 2009, from 2-9 PM at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, MI 48084 (between Maple and Big Beaver Roads), with an evening Trisagion Service at 6:30 PM

Funeral Service: Friday, January 16, 2009 - 2:00 PM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 760 West Wattles Road, Troy, with The Reverend Stratton Dorozenski officiating. Visitation begins Friday at 1:30 PM

Interment: White Chapel Cemetery, in Troy, Michigan
